John D. Petty, BCom (Hons) MBA, MAICD, FCA, FCPA, is FGH Group Chairman and has established a long and distinguished career and reputation within the Corporate Financial Services sector in Australia, USA, Asia and Europe. John currently sits on over 10 N-F-P Australian Community Group Boards within Finance & Planning / Finance Audit and Risk Management.
John founded, managed and sold a successful Australian manufacturing and technology export firm in the 80’s, and continued his passion for Finance, Business and Management by mentoring and coaching ASX listed companies, CEO’s and CFO’s senior executives, endorsed by leading industry bodies of CPA Australia and ICAANZ. A former tenured lecturer in Business Management for 24 years at Australia’s prestigious University of Technology Sydney (UTS), John is also a dedicated volunteer and mentor for NFP SsHed Business Incubator and Accelerator Centre for Knowledge Industries coaching 23 start-ups selling between A$15-A$500 million within a 3-5 year period. John and has written five books and publications of financial and business planning titles, with another three books in the pipeline to be launched in 2017.
Gary Scallan founded Future Group Holdings (FGH) Australia in 2012, and is the CEO of FGH Group.
Gary combined an international sporting career with his professional life in financial services and founded, built and sold two successful financial services groups with multiple offices throughout SA, U.K. and Europe. National Finance Brokers is now listed on the JSE. International Finance Group (IFG) built and managed substantial investment funds internationally based on strong client relationships and innovative products and services before being on-sold to an institution. Gary then migrated to Australia with his family in 2001. Having initiated and supported multiple philanthropic and humanitarian projects, Gary is instrumental and highly passionate about giving-back to communities in need, with projects across Southern Africa to include the Hummingbird Healing Centre in Cape Town with Hummingbird Vocational Villages to follow shortly.
Warren Bingham joined the FGH Board as Director in 2016. As a finalist in the 2016 Australian Institute of Management ‘Excellence in Leadership Awards’, Warren is currently the Vice President of Asia Pacific of Clinical Genomics, Executive Chairman MedTech International, Member of Board of Directors for Simavita (SVA), Chairman of The Hummingbird Fund, Board Member of Directors of Endogene Ltd, Member of the ANZ Gastro International Training Association (ANZGITA), and Chairman of ‘AusBiotech’ AusMedtech National Advisory Group Australia since 2011.
Kevin Cranfield was appointed as FGH Group CFO in 2013. Kevin holds an MBA from Macquarie University Sydney, is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Fellow of Financial Services Institute of Australia, Member of Australian Institute of Company Directors, and in 2010 Founded with four fellows the Sydney office of Bentleys Australia & New Zealand Chartered Accountants and is currently their managing director.
As a specialist in financial services for clients of highnet-worth individuals, family groups and clients in the middle-market, Kevin’s extensive knowledge covers Accounting and Business Advisory, Audit and Assurance, Taxation Consulting, Superannuation, Business Establishment, Trusts and Estates, and Succession Planning - which traverses across industries of IT and Communications, insurance brokerage, manufacturing, agriculture, and property development.
As a passionate philanthropist, Kevin is involved with a large number of not-for-profit and charity organisations, including Australian indigenous corporations, a women’s hospital in Africa, a charity in preserving Australia’s arctic heritage, a large community college, and other registered charities. Kevin is also proud to sit on the audit committee for Anglicare in NSW.
John Thomas (JT) JT has been involved in banking, finance and funds management activities for 40 years. JT joined the Howard Group in 1987 and managed the 5 star rated Howard Mortgage Trust as ceo for 16 years. With Assets of almost A$3billion this was the largest and best performing trust of its kind in Australia.
JT managed over 100 staff and more than 40,000 investors and won the Australian fund manager of the year award in the fixed interest on 7 occasions.
In March 2004 JT launched the Mariner Mortgage Trust and oversaw its growth to $250million to become the best performing mortgage fund in Australia.
JT was Chairman of the Financial Services Council (FSC) mortgage fund sector working group from 2005-2010 which oversaw member FUM in excess of $30billion.
Both APRA and ASIC have sought JT’s advice and he is an acknowledged expert in the commercial mortgage trust lending space.
Alex has extensive experience in medium to large businesses. He has proven expertise in business growth, business development, marketing strategy, digital strategy, PR, brand marketing and social media. His experience spans 17 years developing and implementing (long and short term) highly successful integrated marketing initiatives (B2B, B2C) in a range of industries across Asia Pacific – including wine, IT&T, banking and finance, technology, professional services, hospitality, government, health and commercial property. Alex also sits on the Board of a number of industry groups that help form policy and the direction of business.
Alex has worked with brands such as Westpac, Apple, Australia-China Business Council, Austrade, Australian Graduate School of Management, City of Sydney, and The Wine Society to name a few. In his roles, he has worked with people across the business providing strategic advice to CEOs, CMOs, CFOs, board directors, founders, team members and senior executives.
Greg Jackson, CPA, Bachelor of Business, Accounting & Finance, Grad.Dip. Applied Tax Law and Tax Agent, is our FAMI Chief Financial Officer.
With over 20 year’s experience in strategic management including financial accounting, taxation and regulatory compliancy, Greg’s personal integrity resonates with best practice and a strong client focus.
Greg is tasked with improving the efficiency and productivity of FAMI operations across the group, through systems analysis, regulatory compliance, financial performance optimization and financial reporting.
Jeremy McLennan, B.COM, CPA, MBA, is FGH Group Financial Controller responsible for managing the groups finances.
Jeremy has 15+ years of professional financial services experience specialising in relationship management, corporate structuring and financial advisory services including ongoing financial management, compliance and consolidation of entities across 20 countries.
Vala Setareh, LLM, Solicitor Australia & Germany, is FGH Group Legal Counsel responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Group’s legal services in Australia - with a focus on business and asset purchases, transactions for managed funds, as well as legal risk management and governance of FGH portfolio companies.
Vala comes with over 15 years of legal services experience, having worked with reputable international legal firms such as King and Wood Mallesons in Sydney, and diversely with the United Nations mission in Kosovo on property rights.
Vala’s expertise is within Banking & Finance, Insurance Finance Services, E-Healthcare, Corporate & Commercial Law, and Media TV, with expansive cross-border legal knowledge which covers Australia, South East Asia, Germany and the United Arab Emirates – and is fluent in global business languages.
Sarah Dong has joined FAMI as a Financial Analyst, she holds a Bachelor Degree of Commerce major in Accounting from the University of Queensland, Advanced Diploma of Translating and currently studying the 3rd segment of CPA program. Sarah is also a national accredited professional translator between Chinese and English. Her expertise in accounting and excellent communication skills will be invaluable to the team.
